Tue, 19 May 2009 15:51:00 +0100A few weeks before leaving for Boston University, and later Berklee School of Music, in August, 1967, and after the Bram Rigg Set had broken up, my good friend Beau Segal and I drove down to New York to see the Yardbirds. Beau was the one who found out about the show and it was his [...]... (Read complete news)

How Can I Use Myspace Music Marketing And More Plays For Offline Music Promotion Purposes
Tue, 05 May 2009 17:07:00 +0100While many musicians have a Myspace page devoted to their band and their music, most of those musicians do not use it to its full potential. Granted, Myspace is a great place to connect with friends and fans, upload songs, sell merchandise, and a host of other really terrific services and capabilities, but the main point of Myspace that many overlook is promotion beyond the internet. The best way to gain attention offline is the same as you would online, by using play counts. Play counts are a ranking system used to rank the popular musicians whether they are Unsigned, Indie,... Band Names
Mon, 07 Jul 2008 18:33:00 +0100I saw this on www. classicbands.com and decided to post it here because I found it both interesting and weird. It's a list of bands that describes how each got its name, and most of the important artists are included. AC/DC - A band member saw AC/DC on a sewing machine. It stood for 'Alternating Current / Direct Current'. The band didn't realize it was also slang for bi-sexual, which caused a few misunderstandings in their early days. AEROSMITH - Drummer, Joey Kramer used to write "aerosmith" on his high school notebooks because he thought it sounded cool. When he proposed the name to the group, the rest of them said "What? Like that book they make you read in high school?" (the 1925 book, 'Arrowsmith' by Sinclair Lewis) Kramer responded "No. A-e-r-o smith..." BAD COMPANY - Taken from a 1972 movie starring Jeff Bridges. BADFINGER - The working title of the Beatles song "A Little Help From My Friends". BEATLES - Original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe came up with the Beetles in 1960, which was a play on Buddy Holly's Crickets. John Lennon is generally credited with combining Beetles and Beat to come up with the Beatles spelling. BLACK SABBATH - Named after a 1963 horror movie starring Boris Karloff. BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS - Founder, Al Kooper came up with the name when he was on the phone with a promoter, while gazing at a Johnny Cash album cover. The album was called, "Blood Sweat & Tears". The inspiration for the band name did not come... (Read complete news)
Led Zeppelin
Sat, 28 Jun 2008 03:33:00 +0100Overview The band was originally formed in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page under the name “The New Yardbirds,” based on Page’s previous band, The Yardbirds. While The New Yardbirds arose at first simply to fulfill some performance commitments booked in Scandinavia before the original band’s break-up, Page attempted to create a rock-supergroup out of the new band, which would have been composed of the Yardbirds’ own Page and Jeff Beck, The Who’s Keith Moon and John Entwistle (who were considering leaving their band), and possibly Steve Winwood or Steve Marriott. After Page’s attempt at forming a supergroup failed, Page filled the band... (Read complete news)
