Waco Jesus is a death metal/grindcore band from Illinois, founded in 1994. Their name is a reference to the Waco Massacre and Jesus Christ, though current singer Shane Bottens downplayed that significance. Their lyrics cover such topics as pornography, scat, and snuff, and in their lyrics and interviews they show some anti-globalization tenets, and often a violent anti-feminism and homophobia. After recording a demo in 1996, they were signed to United Gutteral Records the next year, and released The Destruction of Commercial Scum in 1999. Now signed with German label Morbid Records, they released Filth in 2003, dedicated to Nick Null, and Receptive When Beaten in 2006.
