Featured Mixes: Lazer Sword-Sweatpants (new mash-up mix)
Mon, 29 Jun 2009 01:59:00 +0100Mash-up artists Lazer Sword just finished off a new mixtape that they have for download on Nalden.net. About two months ago I caught their show at Great Scott when Basstown brought them up and their approach to remixing on the fly and mashing up tracks was pretty neat. They use tons of MIDI control devices to literally extract vocals, drums, and other components of songs, mangle the crap out of them until something completely different is created, and reconstruct them. This is all while retaining the familiar hooks and samples from the original songs to give you a basis as to how drastically they re-interpreted the music.
