For serious space trippers …
Fri, 26 Jun 2009 11:11:00 +0100I want to thank Xeno, a swamper from Italy (ciao, fratello!!!), who is willing to share with you, through humble me, some excellent and powerful space psychedelic rock by Galacticka. This stuff will be enjoyed by the swampers, like me, who appreciate Gas Giant, Oresund Space Collective and similar groups or sounds. “GALACTICKA is a five-piece-collective from Tampere, Finland consisting of Jukka (drums), Mika (bass), Nixon (keyboards) plus guitarists Jussi and Vesa. Calling their music 'Waste Of Space Rock' with an ironical wink the band is very much interested in freeform guitar-based instrumental music. They play together on the understanding that no track will ever be finished and thus always be created new, whether that is in the rehearsal space or on stage. Based on an often pretty heavy sound, more rhythmic than melodic, opposed by the moog/rhodes that flows free and by all means excessive in the overall sound, they create an hypnotic atmosphere which draws the listeners into the cosmos of GALACTICKA. Starting in 2004 some promos/demos were released by their own record label with a small amount of around 100 copies which are officially sold out. After a brief visit to Germany in summer 2006 the band went back to Finland to record the official debut album 'Apocalypse Psychedelicka' which is available via Warmmilk Records. The production captures the energy and the deep, dark groove that makes GALACTICKA unique very well and also gives a good idea about the freeform music they play.” (from daz.com/artists/Galacticka.html) You will find two albums by Galacticka: Conspiracy (2006) and Apocalypse Psychedelicka (2007).
