The History of Gospel Music
Sat, 06 Jun 2009 14:17:00 +0100Though gospel music can be an extremely broad term, CCM focuses its attention on the music that sprung from the early African-American church and inspired a host of modern day choirs and contemporary gospel/R independent gospel labels increased 50 percent, and total revenues for gospel music have nearly tripled in the past decade-from $180 million in 1980 to $500 million in 1990. Info about the image-default "Gospel music is coming to the mainstream," says gospel diva Yolanda Adams. "Singers are coming out of the church and introducing the gospel style to a mainstream audience." Adams herself expanded gospel's exposure when she appeared... (Read complete news)

Mon, 01 Jun 2009 22:34:00 +0100Hey Have you downloaded but never left a comment? This method of providing access to these shows, isn't meant to be a depot for you to just come and take from. The Builders And The Butchers : Mountain Music
Wed, 27 May 2009 04:21:00 +0100The Builders & The Butchers are not your average band. All of their songs are written around death, or as they have said, funeral songs. Originally from Alaska, singer Ryan Sollee sounds alot like Colin Meloy from the Decemberists. It's undeniable...but their songs couldn't be more different. The Builders & Butchers songs sound like old mountain music. Old folk ballads sung in the mountains in the 1800's. Sollee was inspired by old country and blues, but I hear pure mountain blue grass....ya know - swampy, dirty music with beer flowing endlessly into frosty mugs. Can't you see it? The track... Setting a Strong Scene
Sun, 24 May 2009 15:48:00 +0100One of the most important elements of a song is setting the scene. For example, if a song takes place during a single hour of a day - as the listener, I should be able to recognize that is indeed what is happening. Some songs transpire over extended periods of time, and because songwriters are told to describe things in great deal, sometimes to the point of the words becoming clunky and giving the lyrics an almost... REVIEW // SPECK MOUNTAIN - SOME SWEET RELIEF
Thu, 21 May 2009 20:23:00 +0100Pigeon-holing itself as “ambient soul”, Speck Mountain consists of Karl Briedrick and Marie-Claire Balabanian, who have also enlisted the help of an array of other musicians for their second album. The layering of such a variety of polished and mood-affecting instrumentals mixed with an almost psychedelic overtone, conjures associations with the likes of a mellow, slightly pissed off, Animal... Country Music ” A Life Saver”
Thu, 14 May 2009 05:44:00 +0100Country music helps people remember a loved one, a lover lost, good times and bad, and sometimes its just pure fun. I don't think any country artist ever thought or wanted to think that their music would help save someones life. They just hope most people like their music and pass it on to family [...]...
