Iron & Wine - 16, maybe less chords and lyrics
Tue, 16 Jun 2009 23:39:00 +0100I posted my first Iron & Wine songs in May ( "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" and "Passing Afternoon" ) having just recently started to listen to the band. I've liked everything I've heard so far, so I plan to keep listening, and working out playable versions of their songs, beginning this month with "Sixteen, maybe less" from their joint venture with Calexico, "In the Reins". The chords are pretty simple, just D, Bm, G and A - although I have transcribed to C, Am, F and G, with capo on the 2nd fret. I suspect this is how the original was played, as there are nice little runs between the C and Am, that lend the song to being played in the key of C. You can check out my chords and lyrics interpretation of "16, Maybe Less" on my Rock Guitar song chords page at the link below: Miscellaneous rock guitar songs: Iron and Wine/Calexico "Sixteen, Maybe Less" Check out the YouTube version of the song if you want to play along - YouTube - Iron and Wine/Calexico "16, Maybe Less" ( if the embedded video below doesn't work just click the link above ) The official Iron and Wine website is http://www.ironandwine.com/ , you can check out their music online at the link below: "Iron and Wine" music at CD Universe If you're looking to improve your guitar playing, check out my list of cool and useful guitarist resources on ( where else! ) my Online Guitarist Resources page Enjoy your music! 5 for the weekend - 1973
Fri, 22 May 2009 11:32:00 +0100QUADRANT 4 (BILLY COBHAM 'SPECTRUM') I remember reading somewhere that this vinyl had become almost impossible to find in a state where you could actually hear Tommy Bolin's incredible guitar solo. Not because it was a badly made vinyl but because this solo got played a gazillion times by guitarists trying to work out what the hell he was doing!! This is simply one of the finest guitar solos you will ever find on any record. It's loaded up with some incredible rocky/jazzy playing and his stunning delay tricks (much copied by Steve Stevens, Yngwie Malmsteen et al). Tommy... (Read complete news)
